Facebook Launches 360 App for Gear VR
Happen to own a Samsung Gear VR headset? More content is coming your fashion, thanks to Facebook, which today launched a Gear VR app that lets you browse and explore 360-degree photos and videos.
The app will serve as a "i-cease shop for catching up on what you lot may have missed from your friends and others yous follow, diving into the 360 photos and videos yous've saved, and finding something new to relish," Facebook Product Managing director Brent Ayrey and Software Engineer Christopher Wong wrote in the annunciation.
You can scan 360-degree content from media companies and individual creators via the Explore section, or check out the Following section to run into all the content your friends, pages, and people you follow accept posted. There's besides a Saved department, where you lot can browse all the 360-degree content y'all've saved on the platform.
"Ever since 360 photos and videos came to Facebook, people around the earth take embraced these new formats," Ayrey and Wong wrote. "360 tin can have you into the action with your favorite sports teams, bring you lot behind the scenes at awards shows, transport you to beautiful places around the world, and put yous at the middle of breaking news moments like never before."
To download the app, open the Oculus app on your Gear VR-compatible Samsung device and search for Facebook 360.
Meanwhile, Vimeo today launched 360-deree video back up, which makes Vimeo the "first major marketplace for creators to sell 360 videos" straight to their audiences, the site says.
